Organization History and Purpose

The founding members first met as a group in 1921, and soon thereafter applied to the Secretary of State for a Certificate of Incorporation. The specific purpose of the Association was stated in their formal application: "The objective of the Association is to encourage friendly competition in golf among senior players and to hold an annual golf tournament."

The first tournament of record was held on September 23, 1923 at the Oak Park Country Club. On May 22, 1924 a "Special Spring Tournament" was held at the Peoria Country Club. Due to the popularity of the Spring event in 1924, a Fall tournament was added to the schedule. Since 1923 the ISGA has conducted over 200 events

In 2022, the ISGA celebrated the Centennial Fall Tournament. 2022 ISGA President, Mike Griem, put together a history of the ISGA that we would like to share with the memberships. CLICK HERE to view the document.
